United Crane & Rigging enjoys working on projects that benefit the local community and economy. The Johns Hopkins Homewood North Power Plant is one such project which took place over a 3-year period from 2018 – 2021.
The facility is responsible for providing electricity, heating, and cooling to the Homewood campus in central Baltimore City. For the multi-year facility upgrade, United Crane & Rigging installed a Potain MDT 310B 12-ton tower crane with static base to reach and service all areas of the jobsite.
With a maximum capacity of 26,244 lbs. (5,440 lb. capacity at tip) and a freestanding height of 177 ft., the MDT 310B was configured with a static base and installed outside the power plant on the adjacent street. This static base configuration negated the need to excavate and build a concrete in-ground base, which would take up more room and require additional counterweight.
Another successful project by the tower crane specialists at United Crane & Rigging!
